The Present Age

Following the divine resolution of the Second Sundering in late 1487 DR, the "Present Age" (also known as the Age of Reconstruction) officially began. With the Tablets of Fate rewritten and the Overgod Ao’s decree of a "New North," the world finally settled into the stable state observed by modern adventurers.

This era is characterized by the total absence of the Spellplague's blue fires and the restoration of the "Classic Weave" by the returned goddess Mystra. Across Faerûn, civilizations have transitioned from a century of isolationist survival back into a period of discovery and trade. While the scars of the Age of Upheaval remain in the form of ruins and "dead magic" zones, the world is no longer in a state of active cataclysm. For a person living in 1493 DR, this age represents a fragile but hopeful peace, where the laws of magic and nature once again follow the predictable patterns of the ancient world.
