The Rebirth of the North

Following the divine dust-settling of the Second Sundering, the leaders of the Sword Coast and the North realized that the isolationist habits of the Spellplague era would lead to ruin. The Lords' Alliance convened a historic summit to formalize mutual defense pacts and trade protections, signaling a return to continental cooperation.

This event saw the rise of Laeral Silverhand as the Open Lord of Waterdeep and the stabilization of the "Council of Lords." For a commoner in 1493 DR, this is the reason they can travel between Neverwinter and Baldur's Gate with a reasonable expectation of protection. It transformed the North from a collection of "survivalist city-states" back into a cohesive civilization.
