The Dessarin Valley Orc Raids

Beginning in the spring of 1439 DR, a series of coordinated orc raids swept through the Dessarin Valley, targeting isolated homesteads and the vital trade routes between Red Larch and Triboar. While often dismissed as "standard" frontier skirmishes, these raids were actually part of a larger, systemic pressure caused by the fracturing of the Kingdom of Many-Arrows further north. As internal strife split the orcish nation, splinter warbands were pushed south into the "Savage Frontier," testing the defenses of the Lords' Alliance.

The conflict decimated local agriculture and forced many small settlements to abandon their lands, fleeing to the relative safety of Yartar or Waterdeep. For your players in 1493 DR, the ruins of these 1439-era farmsteads still dot the valley, serving as grim reminders of how quickly civilization can be pushed back by the tide of the mountain tribes when the great cities are too slow to respond.
