The First Banedeath

Following the death of the god Bane during the Time of Troubles, the newly ascended god Cyric launched a brutal inquisition known as the "Banedeath." Cyricist inquisitors purged the ranks of the Zhentarim and the priesthood of the Black Lord, demanding absolute conversion or death.

In Zhentil Keep, the center of the conflict, the streets ran red as the old guard of Banites was systematically hunted down. This event represented the first major "Religious Purge" of the Age of Upheaval, shifting the balance of power within the most dangerous organization in the Realms toward the chaotic whims of Cyric.
