The mercenary captain Cordell and the Golden Legion of Amn discovered the "True World" of Maztica across the Trackless Sea. This event triggered a gold-fever across the Sword Coast, leading to the colonization of the new continent and a massive influx of wealth—and strange new diseases—into the ports of Amn and Waterdeep. For Faerûn, it was proof that the world was far larger and more dangerous than previously imagined.
